We don’t do this very often,but we’re making an exception by sending out a hearty recommendation for an Alternate Reality Game that is just getting started. The game,being produced by Pistolsniffer Industries (formerly Funnel Productions),follows a group of live action role players (LARPers) who have been kicked out of “normal”LARPing groups because of their tendency to “LARP too hard”. They have banded together to form the ultimate LARPing group,“LARP HARD“.
No Pistolsniffer game would be complete without the comic relief duo of Randy and Earl,and in the current game,the pair admit “we’ve bin LARP’n”. Unfortunately,at their last LARPing event Sophia (one of the founders of the group LARP HARD) was killed in a tragic “accident”involving the mechanical dragon that Randy built. Now,Randy is on probation and faces expulsion from the group unless he can prove that he isn’t responsible for Sophia’s death. Randy’s theory is that the dragon was sabotaged by one of the other founders and that he is being framed.
The goal of the game is to gain the trust of Dylan,the leader of LARP HARD,by joining the LARP HARD recruitment drive then discover the truth behind Sophia’s death and clear Randy’s good name. In order to accomplish this task you’ll need to prove your ability to “larp hard”though weekly challenges and figure out what actually happened on the day of the “accident”by befriending the founders and getting them to tell you about that fateful day.
This game is scheduled to last for about eight weeks and has just gotten started. You’ll be able to catch up on the story by just watching a few videos and poking around on the LARP HARD recruitment website. Again,this team of indie game producers has a fantastic track record of creating funny,engaging,and very creative games. Join in now and you won’t be disappointed!
